Go Western Newfoundland (aka. Western Destination Management Organization or WDMO) is a non-profit organization whose role is to develop and market Western Newfoundland as a world class year round tourism destination. We work to support the continued growth and sustainability of the provincial tourism industry through regional marketing, destination development and market readiness initiatives that will attract more visitors, increase length of stay and provide more experiences that are aligned with the Newfoundland & Labrador brand.
This position is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced office environment, gain a solid understanding of marketing in the tourism industry, and develop a network of contacts with a variety of professionals.
The Marketing Assistant will work with the Regional Marketing Officer on various projects. These include enhancing business listings for tourism operators on www.NewfoundlandLabrador.com and Google My Business, writing travel articles and blogs within the Newfoundland & Labrador brand, and creating social media posts for Go Western Newfoundland.
The Marketing Assistant will also provide administrative support to the Director of Travel Trade & Travel Media. This includes aiding with the facilitation of FAM (familiarization) tours — data entry, email inquiries, phone calls, making bookings, etc.
Must have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Comfortable and professional when communicating over the phone, by email, and in person
Detail oriented and organized
Team contributor; assists with various projects/initiatives as they arise in a timely manner
Punctual and reliable; good time management skills
Pursuing a career in business, marketing, or tourism is an asset, but not required
Social media content creation for Facebook & Instagram is an asset
Strong writing skills are an asset
Familiar with designing graphics in Canva is an asset, but not required
Must be willing to use personal cell phone for work with compensation
