Maternity Leave Replacement: Director of Marketing & Market Readiness
Contract: Immediate Start—March 31, 2027

We’re looking for a maternity leave replacement to step into the Director of Marketing & Market Readiness role. This contract position starts as soon as possible and runs until March 31, 2027.  

 

We’re an industry-led, not-for-profit organization dedicated to growing and sustaining Newfoundland and Labrador’s tourism industry. Through regional marketing, destination development, and market readiness initiatives, WDMO works to attract visitors, extend their stays, and enhance tourism experiences. In collaboration with government agencies, industry partners, and stakeholders, WDMO implements an annual work plan focused on tourism development and engagement.

What You’ll Do 
Marketing & Engagement

  • Lead the Familiarization (FAM) Tour Program, including coordinating itineraries and hosting travel trade/media.

  • Manage marketing collateral such as the Annual Traveller’s Guide and Wayfinder Map series.

  • Oversee content marketing projects and support regional/provincial campaigns.

Market Readiness

  • Support tourism operators in optimizing their presence on newfoundlandlabrador.com.

  • Develop and review content for place- and attraction-based landing pages.

  • Mentor operators on product/experience development, including the Exceptional Experience Program.

  • Contribute to EDI, workforce development, and TAP compliance initiatives.

  • Create market readiness tools and resources for stakeholders.

Communications & Engagement

  • Develop content for WDMO’s website, social media, and monthly e-newsletters.

  • Assist with planning/executing workshops and engagement events across Western NL.

  • Provide advice to stakeholders on quality assurance, marketing, and product development.
     

Governance & Administration

  • Lead the Marketing Committee, hosting quarterly meetings and reporting to the Board.

  • Manage annual budgets for FAM Tours and assist with marketplace participation/budgeting.

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • Proven experience in marketing, project management, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.

  • Flexibility to travel and work outside regular hours when required.

  • Based in Corner Brook, NL (travel within Western NL expected; occasional travel outside region).

  • Know how to build relationships and work collaboratively with partners.

  • Are comfortable juggling multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Can host and represent the region professionally.

  • Like jumping into new ideas and figuring things out as you go.

  • Have a valid driver’s license, your own vehicle, and flexible enough to travel and work outside regular hours when needed. 

  • Bring energy, creativity, and a genuine love for Western Newfoundland.
